Do you enjoy playing sports, or being physically active? Do you like to work with kids? Have you considered a career that would allow you to combine sport and nutrition and working with kids while broadening your cultural awareness? Then Husky Sport is the site for you!! Husky Sport is a program housed in the Neag School of Education, in the Department of Educational Leadership, that focuses on building relationships with youth in Hartford, CT through sport and physical activity. College students consistently interact and volunteer in the Hartford community throughout the school year to mentor kids of different ages to reinforce and share information on healthy nutrition, a variety of physical activities, positive life skills, and academic achievement and excellence. This opportunity will invite you to learn more about Sport Based Youth Development, as well as develop lesson plans that address each of the four components of Husky Sport. Students at the Husky Sport site will also have the opportunity to implement hands-on activities with the kids in Hartford! We will work with you to learn the skills to develop age-appropriate lessons, learn more about mentor/mentee relationships, and experience personal growth on issues such as social justice.
